Report Overgrown Properties to Weed Commission

tall grass

It is the time of year where some properties in our neighborhood get overgrown with grass and weeds. If you are able, lend a helping hand to a neighbor who may not be able to mow his or her yard.

When code enforcement is necessary, contact the Polk County Weed Commission at 286-3005, or by email at weedcommission@polkcountyiowa.gov. Generally, grass or weeds that are a foot tall prompt enforcement action by the weed commission.

If you have questions about how MHNA can help, please send an email to merlehayneighborhood@gmail.com.

Merle HayDay on June 13!

Please join MHNA for its annual Merle HayDay celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, at Tower Park, 4900 Hickman Road!

The gathering will be held in the open-air shelter located on the north side of the park. MHNA will provide free hamburgers and hotdogs, as well as family-friendly games and entertainment. Please bring a side dish or a dessert. Tableware will be provided. You also may want to bring a bag chair or lawn chair.

We are also pleased to announce that the Prairie Drifters will join us again to provide great live music. Merle HayDay is a great opportunity to meet your neighbors and learn more about our outstanding neighborhood. It’s also a great way to find out how you can get more involved in making the Merle Hay neighborhood an even better place to live, work, and play.

We look forward to seeing you there on June 13. Please spread the word!

Pardon Our Progress . . .

The Merle Hay Neighborhood Association’s website was recently redesigned. In the longterm, this will allow MHNA to provide members with more information, and provide a much better experience for visitors to our site.

In the near-term, please bear with us while we get the new site updated. It will look a little sparse for the time being, but please rest assured that we are working diligently to make the site as good as it can be!

Visit us often to watch our progress. We always welcome your feedback and suggestions!
