We expect to be joined by a representative from the Des Moines City Manager’s office to discuss important issues in city government.

The Merle Hay Neighborhood Association will host its annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, at the Northwest Community Center, 5110 Franklin Ave. Refreshments will be provided.
Greg Heid, director of the Des Moines Public Library system, will be our guest speaker.
As always, there will be public safety updates and the latest neighborhood news. We also welcome discussion about neighborhood goals for 2017.
Lastly, the 2016 annual report will be given, and officer and board elections will be held.
We look forward to seeing lots of neighbors on January 19. Please spread the word!

Once again this year, we will collect winter clothing for elementary school children in the Merle Hay neighborhood. Please help us “Keep the Kids Warm!” We will collect money, coats, boots, stocking hats, gloves, and mittens. We plan to deliver the clothing donations in November. Join the Beaverdale Neighborhood Association, the Merle Hay Neighborhood Association, and the Waveland Park Neighborhood Association as they host a forum for the candidates for House District 36,Iowa Representative Marti Anderson (D) and Scott Miller (R). The forum will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, at the Northwest Community Center, 5110 Franklin Ave.
The forum will be moderated by The Des Moines Register political columnist Kathie Obradovich. Questions will come from the audience. All are welcome!

When: Saturday, October 15th, 7AM to 11 AM
Where: Grace Lutheran Church, 52nd and Urbandale Avenue.
Serving: pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, fruit, coffee, milk, chocolate milk, and REAL orange juice. All you can eat!
Cost: $7 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under, one child age 3 and under free with paid adult.
ALL PROCEEDS go to fund the Lions Club Foundation’s charitable projects. These include Kidsight vision screening for preschool kids; financial assistance for people who need eyeglasses, hearing aids, and/or exams; transportation of donated corneas and other tissue to Iowa City Hospitals; and providing camperships to Camp Hertko Hollow for kids battling diabetes.
